Cement substrates: new cement will be 90% stable within ten days of pouring, but further shrinkage and crystallization will continue over a long period of time. The accepted cure time for cement is 28 days. New cement substrates can be tiled over after ten days, if the substrate is first covered with a crack suppression membrane.
Cement fibre boards: Prefabricated substrate sheets like Durock or Hardiboard cement backer boards can also be used as an alternative to cement.
Do not install glass tiles directly over plywood or drywall.
