Anyone familiar with a thinset mortar called PCI Nanolight? http://www.degussacc.co.uk/News_ShowNewsStory.asp?NewsID=106

I read in a UK Tile Newsletter where this product is claimed to be "the ultimate" product for setting glass tile. Have Googled up distributors throughout Europe, even one in New Zealand, but nothing in the States. How about from North of the border, or any members across the pond? Know anything about it?

No luck. I've asked the manufacturer for test results with glass tile.

No, never heard of them in North America. I read the press release and it makes reference to PCI and Degussa. We know Degussa as a very large and reputable manufacturer of glazes for the ceramic industry.

Would like to find out why they make the claim that Nanolight is the best adhesive for ceramic, glass and even steel tiles. The article mentions nano technology, which sounds like ahesive made from very fine particles. This may lead to better adhesion to tiles, but with respect to glass, that may not be the issue.

More critical to the proper installation of glass tiles is the increased flexibility of the thinset, a factor that contributes to the overall reduction of stresses.

I would like to wait and read the literature as well as to glass tile specific tests that they may have performed.

hey Mike 2, Finally got a response from the company. The product seems not quite ready for the glass tile market:

Thank you very much for your mail and your interest in our product PCI
Nanolight.

Please be informed that we made tests with glass tiles but unfortunately
the results were not so good. In order to recommend PCI Nanolight for
diverse glass tiles we would have to make the respective tests here in our
laboratory. Only then we may state if our product is suited for laying the
respective glass tiles.

With kind regards,
