New manufacturing processes have resulted in a wide variance of style, color depth, luminescence and warmth of feel among glass tiles. In addition, an entirely new application, glass floor tile, has entered the marketplace. One way of categorizing the range of choices available is to look at the five main manufacturing methods. They are:

1. Smalti (traditional and modern)
2. Fused
3. Sintered
4. Cast
5. Slumped

Each glass tile falls into at least one of these categories; in some cases more than one method is used to produce a particular style.
