Opiocolor

From the town of Opio, on the Cote D'Azur, come bright, translucent glass tiles whose style and colors reflect the Mediterranean locale.

Opiocolor's smalti tiles are typically sold mounted on 12 inch paper sheets. They offer three lines, in 3/8" to 2" square format, and come in solid colors as well as flamed, transparent, and gold textured finishes.

Since being established in 1966, the company has become reknowned for its work with mosaicists, including American expatriot Nall, as well as Sonia King and Xavier Zamarripa. In 1992 Opiocolor manager Didier Cassini also oversaw the development of an original in-house CAD mosaic application, a computer tool which can translate designs or pictures to a series of paper-faced mosaic sheets.

Didier Cassini, on the company's leading line: “When we talk about L'Opio we talk about the light and the intensity of color...L'Opio brings the light and color unique to the French Riviera to any project."
